On May 30, 2024, students from Bozorgmehr University of Qaenat were dispatched to participate in the ICPC programming competition hosted by Sharif University of Technology.

On the morning of Wednesday, May 29, 2024, the student team from Bozorgmehr University of Qaenat—comprising Ms. Sara Aryan, Ms. Mohaddeseh Abbasi, and Mr. Farzan Amiri—was dispatched to the 24th edition of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) at Sharif University of Technology, under the supervision of Dr. Nofresti, a faculty member of the university’s Computer Engineering Department. The team was dispatched  with a formal farewell by the university president, several officials, and supporters of the university.

The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) was established in 1977 by the prestigious Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) with the goal of enhancing collaborative programming skills among university students.

This competition is held annually in regional rounds across the globe, attracting over 60,000 students from more than 3,000 universities in 115 countries. Ultimately, around 120 top teams qualify for the final global contest.

The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) in the West Asia region has been held in Tehran since 1999, organized by Sharif University of Technology. As one of the regional rounds of the global ICPC, the contest annually hosts around 80 three-member teams from universities across the country and region. The top team from this round qualifies for the ICPC World Finals.

Since Tehran became the host of the West Asia regional contest in 1999, Sharif University of Technology has officially served as the West Asia site, welcoming teams from both inside and outside Iran. Only once, in 2011, did University of Tehran take over hosting duties. This year, as in previous years, Sharif University will again host the competition.

The current round, hosted by Sharif University, will begin on the evening of Wednesday, May 29, 2024, and continue until noon on Friday, May 31, 2024.
