Opening of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and the Entrepreneurship Center Building at Bozorgmehr University of Qaenat October 19, 2024.
According to the university’s public relations office, at noon on Saturday, October 19, 2024, with the presence of Es-haqi, representative of the honorable people of Qaenat and Zirkuh counties in the Islamic Consultative Assembly; Mr. Mohammadi, governor of Qaenat County; several department heads and executive officials from Qaenat County; members of the Supporters' Assembly; faculty members; staff; and students, Bozorgmehr University of Qaenat officially inaugurated Building No. 2 of its Entrepreneurship Center and its Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.
During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Shakib noted that the construction of this building was part of the university’s efforts to provide a physical space for innovation and entrepreneurship. The building, covering an area of 260 square meters and costing over 12 billion rials, was made possible through generous funding—over 50% of which was provided by the Sepehr Qaen Cultural Development and Empowerment Foundation via the social responsibility initiative of Farasystem Ofogh Company and philanthropist Engineer Sadr Qaeni.
Dr. Shakib extended his gratitude to the CEO and board members of the Sepehr Foundation, as well as philanthropist Engineer Sadr Qaeni, expressing hope that their support would further enhance the university’s infrastructure development.
He then highlighted the launch of the Computer Engineering program with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence, stating that AI is one of the university’s research priorities. To support this initiative, Bozorgmehr University of Qaenat has established an AI laboratory and high-performance computing center.
Dr. Gholamali Nejad, Head of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Industry Relations, described the Entrepreneurship Center as a vital link between the university and industry. He shared that multiple tech teams are already active within the center, and contracts have been signed with several industrial firms.
This faculty member of the Computer Engineering Department added that the AI lab and computing center were created to ensure user-friendly access via network-connected servers, storage, and applications. These facilities are equipped with advanced CPUs and GPUs, including 960 processing cores (equivalent to 2,400 threads), 480 GB of RAM, and over 20 TB of storage—featuring 14th-generation CPUs and Nvidia GeForce 4090, 4080, and 3060 GPUs—capable of serving multiple users simultaneously.
He added that the university’s high-performance computing center is now fully prepared to offer services to faculty members, students, and researchers at Bozorgmehr University of Qaenat. The center’s management and technical teams are working to expand its capabilities and services in the near future, aiming to benefit other academic and industrial institutions as well.
