the unveiling of the solar drying device with an innovative design at Bozorgmehr University of Qaenat
According to the public relations center of the university, the solar dryer with an innovative design was unveiled in the presence of the academicians of Bozorgmehr University of Qaenat and the officials of Qaenat city. Dr. Seyed Ehsan Shakib, the president of the university, in the unveiling of the solar dryer, pointed out the general policies of the government in using solar energy and added: in Iran There is also a huge potential for solar energy generation. On average, Iran gets 300 days of sunshine annually. He also expressed the capabilities of the young faculty members of this university and added: Since the research mission of Bozorgmehr University of Qaenat is in line with the two strategic products of barberry and saffron region, the solar drying device by Dr. Hamid Mortezapour, a faculty member in the department of Mechanical Engineering, was designed and built. The president of Bozorgmehr University of Qaenat stated that many agricultural products are dried with good quality and in a short time in this device. He also added: This device can be a suitable alternative by using solar energy to the traditional methods of drying important regional products such as barberry. Further, Dr. Hamid Mortezapour, a faculty member in the department of Mechanical Engineering of Bozorgmehr University of Qaenat , the designer and manufacturer of this solar dryer , stated that this device was designed and built in the framework of an extra-university research contract with a private company in 2022,he said: This greenhouse dryer is equipped with a light absorbing system that is used indirectly and with forced air flow to dry products. He by Pointing out that the use of solar energy, low investment cost and high quality of the product are among the features of this device, he added: With the tests done on this dryer, the drying time of barberry can be reduced from five to six months in conventional methods, it has been reduced to five days, while the quality of puffed barberry(or air-dried barberry) produced in the dryer is much higher in terms of color and texture compared to the conventional or traditional methods .
